Amazon.com Product Description The Brother DR250 drum unit works with the TN250 toner cartridge (sold separately) to provide clean, sharp prints on your Brother fax machine or multifunction. You can expect an impressive lifespan of about 20,000 pages (based on 5% coverage) from this high-yield item. It snaps easily into place with minimal fuss, and is compatible with a wide variety of Brother models, including the DCP-1000, MFC-4800 and MFC-6800, and the IntelliFax laser fax machine models 2800, 2900 and 3800.

keeps printing, but use fully compatible toner September 9, 2007 This is a drum used with a replaceable toner cartridge, so it is definitely more economical than one-piece drum-and-toner cartridges, and it lives up to its rated usage of up to 20,000 pages. I use this drum in the DCP-1000 printer-scanner-copier which is no longer a current model and one thing that is critical about this drum is that it works best with original equipment toner (Brother). I had to replace the original drum about a year after I first bought the DCP-1000 in '02 because I thought I was being smart in using a refill toner that was advertised as compatible with this machine. It wasn't, and the prints came out very light (and no solid blacks). Even after I re-installed an OEM toner cartridge, the prints came out light. Then I replaced the drum in '03 and stuck with OEM toner. Now it is '07, and the machine is flashing a red warning light that the drum will need to be replaced soon. The second drum is still in the machine, and it has produced very close to the upper limit of its 20,000 sheet life, as I am not an extremely heavy user of the machine. I have also found that OfficeMax brand third-party toner works with this drum, but not Office Depot brand third-party toner. Also, be careful when removing and installing this drum because it has an opening large enough for a finger to touch the photo-sensitive drum.
Brother DR250 Drum Unit August 9, 2007 The Brother drum unit seems to be working quite well. We've order this product before and do plan to order it again.
Great product below retail price May 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am very happy to have found this drum unit at 30% lower than a major office supply store. It seems to work just as well as the original.
Excellent product price January 9, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The price of the drum was half what it would have been at the local office supply store so I was very happy with the savings. The shipping took about a week but I could have gotten it sooner if I was willing to pay more for shipping. As a small business owner Amazon was the best way to purchase.
Brother Drum Unit November 10, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Works fine but the print is lighter than with the original factory drum unit. Seems like a remanufacture to me.
