 Big Problem, Or Not? November 30, 2008

Background information: I purchased this mount for my new 40" Samsung. I would consider myself to be fairly handy--I've done lots of work on my house--and technically savvy. This *may* be a fine mount but it didn't work for me at all, but maybe I'm more dense than I realized.br /br /The final straw for me was that the tilting feature seemed to be locked in at the -5 degree angle, meaning that the TV is tilting upwards. Not only isn't this practical for watching the TV but it also made the installation more unstable than I'd prefer. There was nothing I could find online or in the instructions that indicated how to fix the angle (there's a bolt-like thing that prevents the adjustments from moving at all). Someone was helping me and we tried everything but it just wouldn't budge. Again, perhaps I'm not as handy as I thought or perhaps there's something simple that I missed, but I spent an hour just trying to fix this issue with no luck (same goes for the person helping).br /br /Secondary issues came up when trying to solve this problem. First, the URL listed in the instructions to find the right hardware/screws to use for your TV doesn't work (you get a Page Not Found error). Second, my TV wasn't listed anywhere on their site (you may want to check that in advance). Third, the "instructional video" you see mentioned is "coming soon" on their site. Fourth, the live support is only M-F, so if you go to install this on the weekend, you're out of luck. Fifth, the site's FAQ page is mostly about how you can sell Peerless Mounts, so that was of no help either.br /br /So, this may be a fine mount if you can get it to work. And maybe I'm at fault or maybe this is somehow defective, but right now it seems like it's a flawed mount and, even worse, the technical support options range from worthless to poor.br /---br /As a follow up, I spoke with a person at Peerless Mounts today (after their Web site's LiveChat feature did nothing). It turns out that the mount wasn't defective but the solution still wasn't obvious to me. So I was able to get the TV mounted, but I'm still not 100% comfortable with how it all connects and am very disappointed with the number of problems on their Web site. Maybe I'd change this rating to three stars--maybe--but I'd still not be inclined to buy a Peerless Mount again.br /---br /As another follow up, I did receive an email reply to my "Live chat by a live person" request...three hours later.

Great price! It's been a month and a half and my 46" Sharp Aquos hasn't fallen off the wall yet!

Used this for a 46" Sharp Aquos LCD to mount over our fireplace; it was an AMAZING mount; the tv looks awesome, and it is very sturdy; just find the wooden studs and screw it in. Our studs were not centered with the fireplace, but no worries, the mount allows you to slide so we were able to center the tv with no issue; be sure to go to the peerless site first, to insure this mount works for the tv you have.
 Installing on a Brick Fireplace December 31, 2007
I purchased the Peerless ST650 to mount my 46" Sony LCD to my fireplace brick face. The installation went well and the TV looks GREAT!!br /br /The instructions covered normal stud framing, metal studs and concrete block. It was dificult to find anyone online or otherwise to speak to installing on brick. I finally spoke with a friend who does high end audio/video installations and he said that although I may be fine with attaching it only to the brick he recommeded going all the way through the brick and attaching to a stud or 2x4 across several studs which is what I did.
Great product, great price September 30, 2007
This mount was ALOT less expensive than many mounts found in department or electronic name brand stores. It arrived quicker than we expected and it was easy to install and has been holding up excellently for over 6 weeks now. I highly recommend this mount. We used it to mount a 42" Sharp Aquos HDTV, and it was great. You cannot go wrong, especially with the mere $95 price tag.
