Larger knives, stronger pliers, longer wire cutters and all-locking blades make the new Wave an essential piece of equipment for any job or adventure. The pliers have been redesigned to withstand more than double the previous squeezing load, and the new bronze bushing makes one-handed knife access a smooth operation -- plus, the one-at-a-time blade selection function means that the tool you want is the tool you get. The versatile Wave comes with a durable and attractive nylon sheath. p table align=left cellpadding=15 width=200 trtd IMG SRC="http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/th/detail-page/Wave_Bits.jpg" width="200"BR smallbiThe Wave includes several screw bits for added versatility./i/b/small /tr/td p trtd IMG SRC="http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/th/detail-page/Wave_Options.jpg" width="200"BR smallbiExpand your Wave's capabilities with the optional bit kit, pocket clip, or lanyard ring (not included)./i/b/small /tr/td /table bUser Features/bBRp This Wave model has four exterior blades that can be accessed even while the tool is closed. (Note: the knife blade can only be opened when the tool is closed.) You can open the blades with one hand by placing your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade, and rotating until the knife is fully extended. This securely engages the locking mechanism. p The saw and file both have nail nicks at their tips for easy access. The locking mechanism is marked with a padlock symbol on the tool itself. To unlock the blades, all you have to do is press the locking mechanism toward the handle until the blade slides past the lock. p Accessing the interior features is a snap, too -- just grip the handles and rotate them open. Each interior blade can be opened by using the nail nicks. The scissors extend in the very same way, and they lock into place for secure, safe use. And of course, it's easy to change the tool bits, too. Just remove the bit from the driver and pop a new one into place. p bOptional Accessories (not included)/bBRp Expand your Wave's capabilities with the Bit Kit, offering 21 double-ended bits. Or, you can add a pocket clip and quick-release lanyard ring. p bWhat's in the box:/bBRp The Leatherman Wave multitool and a nylon sheath. p bWarranty/bBRp All Leatherman products are covered by a 25-year limited warranty. If within 25 years from the purchase date of your genuine Leatherman tool you find any defect in material or workmanship, you can count on the manufacturer to make it right with fast warranty service. To obtain warranty service, return your tool to Leatherman Tool Group. Depending on the tool defect, they will decide whether to repair your tool or replace it with a product of equal or greater value. No variations, upgrades or refunds are offered. p bMultitool Capabilities:/bULbr LI Needlenose pliers LI Regular pliers LI Wire cutters LI Hard-wire cutters LI Clip-point knife LI Serrated knife LI Saw LI Scissors LI Wood/metal file LI Diamond-coated file LI Large bit driver LI Small bit driver LI Large screwdriver LI Ruler (8 inches) LI Bottle/can opener LI Wire stripper LI Lanyard attachment LI Two double-ended bits /UL p bKey Tech Specs:/bBRUL LI Length closed: 4 inches LI Length open: 6.3 inches LI 100-percent stainless steel blades and tools /UL p bThe Leatherman Tool Group and its History of Quality/bBRp In 1975, Leatherman Tool Group founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky car on a budget trip to Europe -- and thus the idea for his first pocket survival tool was conceived. Since then, Leatherman has become an internationally recognized company with hundreds of employees and a wide variety of durable, versatile, stylish products. Created with bold designs and truly rugged construction, Leatherman products are a perfect addition for tool kits, emergency sets, and glove compartments everywhere. p

Well made multi-tool December 3, 2008 This is by far the most popular multi-tool on the market and should last for many years of use. It may be a bit tight when you first purchase it, but a little gun oil will loosen it up. br /br /Some have commented about the quality of the new Wave to be less than the original, but I would say that this is still a very well made tool. I like Gerber as well, but prefer the more solid feel of Leatherman tools. br /br /The one handed, quick access to the main blades is one of the best features of this tool. The metal is ribbed on the serrated blades release point to differentiate it from the straight blade. br /br /I do not use the included nylon sheath, but it seems of decent quality.
Good multi-tool December 1, 2008 Very good multi-tool, this is actually the second I own because I lost the first one. But it is a very nice multi tool with everything you need. The only gripe I have with it is that sometimes when you try to open it the ends of the pliers get stuck with the scissors. It is pretty annoying, but other than that, its a great tool to go with everyday.br /
My new favorite sidekick September 28, 2008 I deployed with this tool. This tool has just enough of what I need to do the little jobs I need it to do without all the extra, unnecessary bells and whistles. It's my new favorite sidekick.
Quite good enough, but not perfect. September 12, 2008 I'll use my Leatherman anywhere from several times a day to constantly, depending on which hobby I'm working on that day. I've had this one for several months now, and so far I like it quite well.br /br /I do find it a bit odd that there is a small rust-colored spot on one of the blades, when it is billed at "100 percent stainless steel". The last Leatherman I used I had for _15 years_, also stainless steel, but never, ever, had anything like rust colored spots. While this makes me question the materials used, and thus possibly the maker's honesty or accuracy in this area. Still, for me this is not causing ANY problems, just questions.br /br /I should make clear that my 4-star, not 5-star rating, is *purely subjective*, based on my strong desire for 2.5" blades most of the time. I will occasionally find myself attending college courses and visiting or crossing other school grounds. And here in California knife blade longer than 2.5" are a felony on any school grounds without prior official permission.br /br /So as great as this Leatherman is in an absolute sense, I'm simply not able to casually take it with me to my machining (!!!) class, or even to pick up kids at school, like I freely can with my old, smaller Leatherman.br /br /I'll be happy to change my rating if someone can turn me on to fully compatible replacement blades in a shorter size!!br /br /But I reiterate, this is a very good product! I'm very pleased so far. But I think Leatherman's entire line would benefit greatly if they offered some variants one could use to replace the defaults. Or perhaps someone will hit me in the head and call me ignorant - with proof. :)
Leatherman Tool August 31, 2008 The tool arrived on time and appears to be very high quality. I have not used it, rather I keep it in my car in case its needed when traveling.
