A great item February 7, 2008
I love this item. It works great and I had no issues with it. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating is what a previous reviewer stated, I wish it had a handle to carry it to the litter boxes.

I saw this in a PetCo and bought it on a whim, as I'd recently gotten so frustrated with trying to use the Playtex Diaper Genie System 2 to dispose of cat waste that I'd chucked it into the dumpster.
I live in a small apartment and have one cat, but I frequently have feline house-guests so the average waste production is more like that of two or three cats. This product does an excellent job of taking care of the smell, and it's an attractive design. It fits in my tiny bathroom next to the "Cats Rule" Box, which has a scented air filter to help with odors (I highly recommend it - attractive and smells good).
Some people are concerned with the fact that the rotating wheel sometimes slides into the container, forcing them to disassemble and reassemble the entire apparatus. I had this problem too, initially, but if you follow the instructions to the letter it shouldn't happen.
Here's a valuable tip: The wheel is actually two pieces that slide apart, so I found that they were easy to adjust. Once they're the right width apart (so that the "lip" of the wheels press against the outside of the canister), as you're closing the canister down over the wheel TURN THE WHEEL COUNTER-CLOCKWISE. This is very important, as it seems to "lock" the wheel into place and prevent it from moving about during normal operation. I didn't do that the first few times I tried to put the Litter Locker together, and the curse words that ensued made my kitty blush.
That said, the button on the front that holds the canister together is too small - it doesn't actually "snap" into place, making it too easy to accidentally pull everything apart. I've found, though, that as long as you don't touch it other than to open the lid and turn the wheel, you're fine until emptying day. It isn't flimsy, per se, but if you try to lift the entire thing from the top or it gets knocked over you could have a bit of a mess on your hands.
The best thing about this product is that it's designed for cat waste. Other products designed for diapers don't have big enough openings on the top, and you'll end up tossing litter at the canister and hoping that it goes in.
OVERALL:
The design could be both larger (to accommodate more waste) and sturdier (to prevent more potential mishaps) but overall it keeps my apartment odor-free and it looks good. For this price, there isn't a better product on the market.

Bought this item for my kitty who likes to live in my bedroom :-p so I wouldn't have to lug the kitty litter into the kitchen and then downstairs every time I cleaned her litter box. It works pretty well, and contains the odor wonderfully. The problem with it is, though, that the wheels tend to fall off the tracks and then the whole thing falls apart. Also, when you go to lift it, there is no handle, so it also falls apart. You have to use both hands on the bottom to give it support in order to lift it. I think the reason this happens is because the center dot thing to which it is supposed to latch onto so it doesn't fall apart doesn't latch on too well. I don't know if I have a defective unit or if that is just the way they're being built.
The good news, though, is that once you get the hang of it, it works pretty well and performs as promised. I just wish it would stay closed when I go to lift it!!

I picked up one of these at Petco. when I pulled it out of the box, the tumbler was already off the track, and once I secured it, it popped off again WITHOUT any littler in it! I tried using it and it came off the track again, with the handles popping inside the container all the time. I took it back for a replacement, but after looking at the other litter mate, I decided to just get a refund. The other was the same way. Absolute junk!

This is a great product. It eliminates the nagging chore of having to eliminate cat waste in plastic bags on a daily basis. It also eliminates the smell. The reason I rated it a 4, rather than a 5 is two-fold. 1. There should be some sort of a handle to grab and carry it. It's a little awkward moving it around, and, 2. The refills are a bit costly. Other than that, it's a great product which eliminates some of the litterbox hassles and gives us more time to spend spoiling our feline children.
