I tried and tried but my dog won't go up or down these stairs.
First of all they are a little unstable and wobbly.

This is too short for all the beds in our house, but they did stick an ad for a 4th step, which you can order by mail and costs almost as much as the original product.
The fact they even put the 4th step ad in the box tells me they knew it, but figured they could charge you again once you've bought it once.
Deceptive.
Meanwhile, the product is indeed flimsy, which is fine given the (supposed) low price.
Bottom line, go with a nicer one; you'll end up paying the same price, and won't have to go through the trouble of ordering the 4th step.

The stairs are plenty sturdy for a small dog or a cat. Just bear in mind that they are very small...only 12" high, and an optional fourth step would only add 4" to the height. Not nearly high enough for my 28-inch high bed.

It has about as little material as possible to fulfill its function which was disappointing. As a result it's too light so it slides when dog uses it. Moreover, it's awfully narrow I tend think. Based on how tenatively my dog uses it he just might feel the same too. But the one star is mostly for the bait-and-switch service. They never included the fourth-step kit nor the additional stairs that they shamelessly pushed with a of additional last-minute junk as a special! Lesson? Beware of television adds like this one. Instead do a search for similar products at Amazon. I foundnd a ton, ordered a superior product and wished I'd have bought from there in the first place.
not top of the line but good enough... June 1, 2008
This product proves we have to read the description to make sure we know what we're getting. I have 5 Havanese who can't quite jump up to the couch. This litte stepper is good enough for them to use and it's not so big they are intimidated byit. Snap together construction and think covering. The cover wears down quickly with use and from vacuuming. I wish I could buy replacement covers.
