all cats are different and like different things, so your fun-ness may vary :) (yes, my cat's name is mousie -- well, i didn't name her, she came from the shelter with it.)br /br / you pull the string on the tail of the little critter, and the recoil action sets off a spinning thing inside that makes the critter vibrate. the string is not very long (6-7 inches), and recoils fairly quickly, so the vibration only lasts about two seconds or so.br / for mousie, this is not long enough to engage her cautious interest. i did find if you hold the critter sideways or upside down, the vibration may make it scoot along the floor -- again, not very far or for very long. it vibrates nicely under newspaper or in a bag, but having to reach in and manipulate the string sort of spoils the surprise.br /br /safety: this is a pretty sturdy toy without too much hanging off it. the string recoils inside the body and doesn't hang out. the end of the string is secured by a little plastic button, which may conceivably be chewed off and swallowed.
