Product Description Panasonic NI-L45NR Cordless Steam Iron - Oh those wrinkles! You love natural fabrics but they're hard to keep free of wrinkles. Ironing your clothes probably rates high on your most hated of chores list. This iron helps make the chore a lot easier. It gets rid of the cord so you feel less restrained. Instead the AC cord is on a separate base that is also a charger stand. Self Clean Removable Water tank Automatic Valve System Base has self-winding AC cord reel Includes carrying and storage case
Amazon.com Review This electric cordless iron comes complete with its own carrying case, making it ideal for sewing teachers headed to a class, costume designers on their way to the set, or a wedding party traveling across the country with wrinkled bridesmaid's dresses. Once the power base is plugged in, the cordless iron begins to generate heat. The flatiron simply lifts off the base for use and there is no dangerous cord to get tangled up in. The three temperature/steam settings function via an electronic keypad on the handle, and an internal microprocessor accurately maintains the correct heat. A fabric chart on the power base recommends appropriate heat settings for specific fabrics. A steam button on the top of the iron's handle has three positions--high, low, or off--and can be adjusted for each garment. The iron also has a jet-of-steam button, which releases excess steam for tough wrinkles and also clears out clogged vents. An automatic water seal ensures that water won't drip from the soleplate when the temperature is below the steaming point. A large transparent purple window makes it easy to monitor when the water for steam needs to be refilled, and the tank detaches for easier filling. This electric steam iron has a nonstick soleplate, which glides easily over clothing and reduces the chance of burns. Finally, for safety, the iron automatically shuts off in 10 minutes if left unattended in the power base. This power base has a convenient retractable cord, and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Great Product; Poor Shipping Practices August 18, 2008 Ordered this product for my grandmother as I had already purchased one a few years ago locally. The product delivered was not as pictured. I expected the purple tank but rec'd green. Wouldn't have been so bad but the first shipment the base was damaged and so was the second shipment. Finally, not due to an improvement in their shipping practice, only by mere chance the third iron was not damaged.
Very Nice But Pricy July 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After decades of 'discount' corded irons and a year's weekly use of this unit for Slacks, DressShirts, etc, I'm quite pleased and really appreciate the freedom of no iron cord getting in the way.
I'm constantly pausing to rearrange the cloth and by always recradling the iron at those times it keeps fully charged at its highest ["cotton"] setting, with very few exceptions.
If we had a 'Dedicated Laundry Area' I'd have probably created years ago a springy heavy overhead wire contraption to keep a cord out of the way. But in our apartment we just open the Ironing Board wherever, plopping the Recharge Base down on nearby furniture.
Still, I don't know how well it would work on big heavy items, say curtains or a Damask Tablecloth - we use a 'full-service Laundromat' for such items. And all bets would be off if the thing doesn't still work 2 or 3 years from now.
NB: I now note that the current price is only a small discount from "List", while I paid, a year ago, $20 off the same 'List Price'. This means that final cost is now 40% higher than what I paid & for that amount I'd be a lot more demanding re performance if, indeed, I'd have committed in the first place. jfr
WOW June 18, 2008 Better than expected. No cord to get in the way. Keeps hot by placing iron back in base. Carry case is a nice feature. Hated always working around the cord, this makes ironing almost fun.
Can't go back to a corded iron ever June 16, 2008 I like this iron. It gets hot enough and steams plenty. I keep a gallon of distilled water right beside my ironing board to refill the iron.
Liked enough to buy two May 15, 2008 Once you iron without a cord you'll never go back. This product does the job daily for our family. Well worth the money.
