It is the first one we have ever had (and we have had several) that does not leave a mess all over the counter when we use it. The grinder part is deep. We grind the coffee and pour the grounds directly from the metal part of the grinder, not from the plastic lid, which I think makes this one so much nicer to use than most. It has been used about 4 times a week for over one year now, and has never malfunctioned. Also great for grinding spices, but should not be used for coffee once converted into a spice grinder because it becomes permeated with spices permanently.
