Excellent buy! June 8, 2008 My daughter loves storytime. So, now that she can see her books at eye level, its storytime...everytime.br /br /This is a great way to encourage not only reading, but also the care of storybooks as she now puts them back in the shelves rather than dropping them on the floor.
great little book case February 28, 2008 I love this bookcase. it's just the right size for the kid and it rids of some clutter. the only downside is that the taller books on the top shelf have a tendency to occasionally fall forward.
A great place for books for toddlers January 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 3 year son because I thought it was a great alternitive to the the pile of books in a basket in his room, which was aways a mess. This bookcase made his room look much neater. I love the red, it goes great with his Disney Cars room. It seams to be very study so far, but we have only had it a couple of weeks now. It is the perfect size for little toddlers and preschoolers to get and put away their own books. No more searching for the book at the bottom of the pile or dumping them all out. The canvas seams strong, not like the cheap plastic ones. If you want it to last I would spend the extra $$$$. I only wish the pockets on the top and middle were a little deeper, sometimes the taller books fall forward, hence the four stars not five. I have noticed that my son spends more time with his books now, than when they were just in a basket. Which was one of my main goals because reading is soooooo important. You should read to your child every day. I am a PreK teacher and I highly recommend this bookcase.
A book HIDER - not a book display! July 24, 2007 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought two of these, but was disappointed in their design from the beginning. First problem, all the shelves are the same depth of 8 inches, so none of the regular toddler size board books are even visible when you put the books in the shelves. I would have assumed they would have made the top shelf with 8" depth, the middle shelf with 6" depth, and the bottom with the 4" depth, so could display a variety of books, but no, all the same. Next problem, is that the only books that look right in this display have to be at least 12"-14" tall, but then the books tend to start leaning out at a funny angle toward you at the top. Besides, most toddlers prefer the 5" x 8" size toddler board books so their hands can manage them. We ended up buying CD storage boxes to hold most of our toddler board books instead.br /br /We got this toddler bookcase with the natural canvas, but this red canvas one I would be very afraid would very likely stain books. Avoid this item and go with the commercial grade Jonti-craft single sided display (or double if you have large space) with the masonite dividers. We borrowed 2 of the Jonti-craft ones from a preschool teacher friend, and our kids are happy to be able to again find and see their books that have been lost in this canvas book hider. I'm giving these canvas bookcases away and sticking with the better Jonti-craft shelves for my toddler and preschooler.
Very good product July 3, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Nice and sturdy, no sharp edges and very easy to put together. Took me about 10 minutes from the moment I opened the box. My daughter loves it, and it's sturdy enough that she can use it to pull up on before selecting her books. My only comment is that it would be nice to have one pocket for smaller books (hence 4 stars not 5), but it's not a complaint.
