The FD-60 boasts a patented Converga-Flow drying system that forces hot air down the exterior pressurized chamber and horizontally across each individual tray for even drying. The product works well for my purposes, which so far is dehydrating nuts. My only suggestion is that it should have an on/off switch. As it is now, the way to turn on the unit is to plug it into the outlet, and unplugging the unit turns it off. Otherwise, I'm happy with the product.

I originally started out with a Ronco. It only had a heater in the bottom, took forever to dry things and you constantly had to rotate the trays and give them a 1/4 turn to account for the coil position. Pain in the bum... Finally it died and I replaced it with the Nesco. I have been using this for 2 years now, and I mean really using it. It has been running nonstop for the past three months now! Food dries quickly, evenly and consistently. You do not need to rotate the trays or turn them. Fruit roll-ups come off nicely off the included tray. The fan and heater combo really do a nice job with this unit. It is not very noisy, just a nice steady humming. I would highly recommend it!

We didn't know how lucky we were when we bought this used at a yard sale for $5.00! We have this running all the time! We have dried strawberries herbs. Zucchini Summer Squash dried until crisp to use in place of potato chips! Yum! Ripe bananas with cinnamon sprinkled on them...Next will be apples.br /It features a convient dial giving you the temp. the recomendation to use that setting for particular foods. For example the lowest temp. is recommended for herbs. The top heats blows warm air through the racks. So far this has been very easy to clean. You can use more or less racks depending on your needs. Plus you can purchase additional racks, fruit leather trays, more directly from Amazon if you want! You can even make your own jerky...something we plan to try.br /This makes a great addition to your nutritional needs if you are on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. You know exactly what is in what you make. Fantastic if you want to cut your food budget eat healthy! Plus there are lots of deyhdrator cook books available to keep you going!

Since, I had limited experience with food dehydrators a search of Amazon produce many types and styles. The Nesco FD-60 is sensibly priced and produce excellent results. Completely satisfied with this product/

I've used this product for over a week to dry plums and make plum fruit rolls. The result was very good. I chose this model after reading reviews from people who purchased it. I am glad I chose this model. It is quiet and efficient. It comes with four layers and one fruit roll sheet. I also ordered four more fruit roll sheets and a Jumbo Jerky Works and jerky spices. Can't wait to make my own beef jerkies.
