Perfect to keep an ill Sugar Glider warm! September 19, 2008 I wasn't expecting to get this so fast! It came in a couple of days and just in time:) When a Sugar Glider is ill, they don't hold their body temperature well, this is PERFECT! Thank you!
Comes with fleece cover - great heatpad! September 12, 2008 Our adopted kitty loves this heatpad! We place it under the removable cusion in her cat bed, and it stays warm for about 10 hours.
There's a sticker on the middle of the heatpad that outlines the microwave times for different wattages. We have a 1000-watt microwave and heat up the pad (with its cover) for 5 minutes. Then we let it sit there for one more minute -- the directions say to do this -- before picking it up and placing it in the cat bed.
When we received the heatpad in the mail, I was suprised because it was so different from how I thought it would be (but not in a bad way!). - It's made of thick, inflexible plastic. I thought it would be soft and rubbery, but I guess the hard plastic makes it "bite resistant". No problems there. - It's slightly smaller than a standard frisbee; I thought it would be about the size of a CD -- pleasant surprise! More surface area for warmth. - It's as heavy as a cookbook (yes, really -- prob. in the 2-lb. range) - It comes with a fleece velcro cover -- ours is tan with a black paw print design.
I would recommend this heatpad to anyone looking for an alternative to the electric kind for their pet!
DOG HATES IT August 12, 2008 Our dog won't sleep on it. I think he's a princess. He chewed it for a while, then slept as far away as he could from it and still be on his bedding. I will try again this winter, and bury it deeper into the bedding, but he's either afraid of it or doesn't like its hard, frisbee like surface. And I covered it well, but will put more layers on top. he is very finicky in all circumstances, little hair and very bony. maybe a fatter dog would like it, but then that one would be warm enough. I'd return it except it's chewed on!
snuggle safe August 8, 2008 This item worked very well when trying to keep animals warm, without having to plug it in, it's safer then a heating pad.
A God send August 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having worked in animal rescue for many years, I cannot say enough about this product. Unlike a conventional heating pad, there is no danger of electrical problems. I have used this product for my elderly cats as well as bottle babies - it is easy to use and easy to clean. It is helpful when one of my babies doesn't feel 100% - sort of like cuddling up to Mom.And rotten person that I am, it also makes an excellent foot warmer for me.
