Every Dog owner should own this collar! June 24, 2008
My small dogs are always so excited to go on walks, they often choke and cough and gag themselves 'pulling' ahead on a regular collar lead. The head collar is perfect! Honestly - Every dog owner should own use this product!! br /
Gentle leader - great tool November 30, 2007

We ordered this collar to use with our German Shepherd Rex. At first he was not very happy about the strap over the bridge of his nose, but after a few times he as gotten used to it. It is important to get the collar properly adjusted for comfort and functional reasons. Once the leader is properly adjusted it goes on in no time. Rex is able to fetch, drink, and go running with this collar without any problems. This is a great tool to have in your dog training tool kit.

It took us about a week to get our dog, Fred, used to the head halter. We took that long because we didn't want him to be afraid of it. Following the directions so that it is fit correctly is very important for the dog's comfort. When I finally took him for his first walk, I couldn't believe the immediate difference in my ability to control him. He is extremely strong and used to pull me so hard that I couldn't keep up with him and he would choke the entire time. When we went out with the head halter he was surprized at first that he could no longer pull me around. Used correctly the halter turns his head back toward me when he pulls and he automatically stops. He did try to get it off of his head several times. Not frantically but just because he didn't like not being able to walk as fast as he wanted to. He could breath and pant just fine. He did not choke. But he could not get it off of his head. It made walking with him possible when before using it I was ready to never take him out of the yard on a leash again. You must watch the instructional video and follow the directions very carefully. If you do, the dog will be quite comfortable wearing the halter. You may also be able to enjoy walking your dog, too!

Premier Gentle Leader Head Collar Large Blackbr /br /This product was recommended to us at Petsmart. We explained that are Chow/Shepherd mix is very strong willed and it took all we had not to get our arms pulled out of socket when walking him. Within a few days of wearing this collar he was back on track and is doing great. It doesn't look like it would be too comfortable for them to wear, but he never complained about it. Be sure to get the one that has the DVD with it, it really is needed to use the product properly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is training a dog.
