Great idea; rotten design; rotten customer service November 21, 2008 I purchased this product in July 2008 with very high hopes. It's a great idea and seems to be a mechanically sound idea. HOWEVER, my first base died within a month. NEVER has customer service actually answered the phone - you leave a message and they call back...a LONG time later (4 hours to several days)...same, unacceptable timeframe with e-mails. This is particularily frustrating considering that they expected me to do quite a bit of troubleshooting for them, above and beyond what was listed in the manual that I had already done before ever contacting them...I'm a technically competent person and don't mind minor troubleshooting; however I mind very much when I have to troubleshoot on their time frame (because I have to wait for them to call back!). br /br /After about a week of "troubleshooting" with them, they sent me a new base. This one worked great for about 2 1/2 months. Well, it broke again. It needs manual intervention at least once a day; it's needed manual intervention several times a day over the past few days. There is absolutely no point in having an automatic system if I have to turn it on and off, mess with the buttons, and/or reset the globe. I can scoop a normal box quicker than I can intervene with the Robot.br /br /Finally, there are a few design issues. Two of my three cats will use it, but neither are really comfortable with the cramped design. I think it would be very helpful if it were not totally enclosed. Also, while I love the rubber mat that holds the litter, it is very difficult to clean and it is very stinky inside the globe.br /br /Bottom line - I am very disappointed in this product and simply can't recommend it at this time. I truly hope that it will improve.
Great at the start....but doesn't stand the test of time. November 11, 2008 We have two cats and we wanted a litter box that would keep both us and our cats happy. For the first 3 years this box did the trick, but for the past year we have had major problems with the LR. It turns on and off by itself and almost never finishes a cycle. I've had to resort to unpluging the LR at night so my cats will at least have litter to use when they step into the box. Customer service has been horrible! I have called at least a dozen times, and no one has returned my phone call. I use to be a HUGE fan of the LR...but with their lack of help with their product has turned us away.
Worth EVERY penny!!! November 7, 2008 This robot litterbox is great!! It isn't exactly quiet and scared my cats at first. But they got used to it and all is great! It works really well. I love not having to scoop anymore! Just throw out the bag 2x a week. It's been a great 7 months, worth every penny!
Love my 4 Litter Robots! November 4, 2008 I now have four Litter Robots and I love them. I breed Siberian cats, a fairly large breed and while I haven't used it with my very large boy, partly for other reasons - he likes to dismantle things - it works very well with my cats - ranging from kitten to 14 lbs. When I have young kittens, I turn them off and run manually once or twice a day. I empty the bags probably twice a week with the relatively large population we have now. As soon as the kittens can scramble into them they start switching from the low boxes we use for them at first. I have had no problems with any of the units and cannot believe how much I like them! The house does not smell, the litter job is MUCH easier and the cats seem happy. They do occasionally kick litter out - but that happened with every litter box. I have four robots now for 12 kittens (9-10 weeks) and 4 female cats. Kittens will be leaving soon and then I can turn them on and empty less frequently...br /br /Probably the best money I've spent on a cat item!
it's great November 1, 2008 am one of the earliest customers for the product (2000) and love it. we upgraded to the new unit (with a bigger poop drawer). my only complaint is that even with the after-market litter guards (which they sell), there is still litter on the floor near the unit. but until cats stop scratching -- there isn't much choice.
