Sound chip didn't make it through the first day May 28, 2008 I wanted to give this toy more stars, I really did. I have a 30 lb sheltie I purchased this toy for, as she loves plush toys, isn't a "toy destroyer", and she goes nuts when she hears another dog barking. I brought it home the afternoon I received it from Amazon and removed the plastic tab that kept the battery from wearing out, (it didn't bark for me before I removed the tab, so I'm sure the battery didn't wear out). My husband and I laughed over how cute our sheltie was, curiously tilting her head at the barking bone, barking and pouncing at it, carrying it around proudly in her mouth. After a few hours, though, my dog must've chomped down on the sound chip bit in a wrong way (or, more likely, her drool might've soaked through to the chip, shorting it out, maybe?), because from then on, it would only bark once, instead of the succession of barks it did before upon being pressed. The next day, I couldn't get it to bark at all, neither could my sheltie, but my husband could because he has a stronger grip.br /br /The toy didn't last long, at least not the barking bit. On occasion, our sheltie will pull this plush bone out of her toy bin and go "nom nom nom" on it, soaking it with drool, but otherwise, it doesn't get much use. It seems others have had better success with the barking bit continuing to work for them, so maybe I got a lemon?
My dog, Sadie loves these!! May 27, 2008 I first bought this product at Wal-Mart and our dog, Sadie loved it so much I went back and bought all they had. I hadn't been able to find these again until I bought from Amazon. Sadie carries them around and whines when she wants me to push it so it barks. br /br /One negative--the toy itself outlasts the barking chip, and the white fabric gets pretty dirty very quickly. Well, it shows the dirt because of the white color.
Dog Toy April 18, 2008 My dog (basset hound) loved this. She could carry it easly and make the bone bark. I would recommend.
This toy outlasts even my little dogs destructive behavior towards his toys. March 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've bought other Jaxx toys before and they've always proven to be of good quality and most of them last longer than most of his other stuffed toys. I've learned, however, to avoid any stuffed toys with sewn-on ears, tails, etc that are easy for him to use to rip the toy open and pull out the stuffing. br /br /The barking bone is smooth and he hasn't been able to make even the slightest tear in it. Plus, he absolutely loves it. He has even taken to imitating the rhythm of it's bark! The fire hydrant Jakks Pacific 11152 Max Lucy - Plush Fire Hydrant with Sound Chip - LG also looks like a winner.
My dog's favorite toy October 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The barking bone is much more durable than I expected. I usually buy my dog really cheap squeeky toys, and within a couple of hours he has chewed up the squeeker and pulled out most of the stuffing. To my surprise, the sound chip in the barking bone lasted almost 6 weeks. He never did chew open this toy. Even after the sound chip died, he continued to play with the bone, still trying to make it bark. After nibbling on the sound chip with no results for a while, he would look very sad. The place I bought the first one stopped carrying it, and I was so happy (and so was my dog!) to finally find it again on Amazon.
