Product Description 3-pack of cat litter cartridges lasts up to 90 days. If you use the Scoop Free Automatic Litter Box you already appreciate not having to scoop, clean, or refill your cat's litter for weeks at a time. Replace the touch-free litter box's cat litter with a Scoop Free Replacement Litter Cartridge, which is filled with 30 days' worth of Fresh Step crystal litter. This set includes three Replacement Litter Cartridges. Replacing the existing cartridge is easy. Just slide the sanitary cartridge into the Scoop Free Automatic Litter Box and reattach the waste cover. The Scoop Free Replacement Litter Cartridge absorbs odor and moisture on contact, and after your cat leaves the litter box, the ultra-quiet Scoop Free automatically rakes the waste into a covered trap, leaving the litter bed smelling clean and fresh. The Scoop Free Replacement Litter Cartridge uses disposable litter tray cartridges filled with Fresh Step crystal litter, which stops odors significantly better than clay litter. Just change the disposable litter cartridge every 20 to 30 days (10 to 15 days for two cats) and toss the old cartridge away without seeing, touching, or smelling messy waste.

Works Well July 20, 2008 I gave this product to my mother for Christmas last year. She still thinks it's great. She said it's easy to clean and I've noticed it reduced the smell in the room it's in.
Great! July 9, 2008 The cartridge is quick and easy to install. I have 2 cats and need to clean the cartridge once a week, so I keep an extra bag of litter crystals and clean out the cartridge, refill it with crystals, and then replace the entire cartridge the following week to save money.
Addressing the disposability issue and the cost. June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Scoop Free litter box is the best built, easiest automatic litter box available. I've tried them all. Everybody seems to like it. However, the disposable litter trays can cost a lot of money per month if you have more than one cat. I've found a cheat that works really well to extend the life of one of those disposable Scoop Free litter pans.
Your local hardware store sells thin hard sheet plastic for use in recessed ceiling lights, etc. It needs to be thin, about 1/16th inch, and absolutely smooth on one side. Measure the inside of the box bottom and cut out a piece to exactly fit (a marking pen and scissors works fine). Lay the plastic into the bottom of the box and fill with premium hard clumping litter. Now the box will keep itself raked clean for the kitties, but you must scoop the collection box manually when needed(which requires another small fix).
The cardboard trap door needs a slight alteration. Notice that when the box is in place you cannot lift the flap to scoop under it? I found that making a cut on each side of the lid with a razor knife allows you to lift it up past the lifting levers on either side, even when the box is in place. Now you can clean the trap manually, use premium clumping litter, and keep using the litter pan over and over again.
So now the best automatic litter box on the market can be re-used over and over in a more conventional way. You will still replace those cartridges occasionally, but much less often. I maintain three cats and this method is a must for me.
Two other recommendations for the Scoop Free Litter Box: To minimize litter scattering buy the box privacy hood. Better eye appeal too. I also use a 30 x 40 inch aluminum tray underneath the whole thing (the type you find in automotive stores to put under a car that leaks oil). It's a little ugly but it works well to prevent litter scatter underneath the box.
Great to have, hard to get June 15, 2008 These are great, but it is so annoying that they must be ordered online. I haven't found them in any stores.
idea for hiding box.. love it! June 14, 2008 I have 2 18 year old cats and pretty much tried everything in boxes and litter. I have to say I would rather deal with crystals then the yucky scoopable. Although they are old and pee alot, I do have to change often so it does get pricy. I read a review on how to save by covering the cardboard so the pee doesn't soak through. I have noticed though if you leave too long the poop gets moldy underneath the lid. BUT most important I have found a way to hide the box since I live LA in a small guest house. I bought a $30 coffee table from IKEA and placed the box underneath. The table sits against the wall and shelf that is supposed to go underneath fits perfectly to block the other side. I attached it with velcro for easy removal. The cats enter through either end and I don't have to look at the box or ugly hood. People who visit don't even know its there! AND it works great as an entry table, I put fresh flowers there to cover any hint of smell. I hope this helps anyone who wants to hide the box.
