The Best Cat Litter Ever December 22, 2008 This litter controls odor better than any other I've tried. I couldn't believe when they stopped selling it in stores. Glad to find it on Amazon. Even with the shipping it's economical. Other litters I have to throw away after awhile, even when you scoop they smell. But Odor Lockers I use until there is very little left; it really works. And I can flush it! It is great.
Best Cat Litter Ever October 17, 2008 Odor Lockers is the best cat litter, especially if you use an automated litter box (Littermaid is what I use). I was using Odor Lockers about a year ago when the store (Kroger) I was buying it at stopped carrying it. I tried a bunch of other litters, but they all caused the Littermaid to clog. They were too gooy when wet and stuck like glue to the bottom of the pan causing the "rake" to hang and retry. This would happen three or four times a day. (I do have four cats.) Then, I found that I could order Odor Lockers online. Odor Lockers works great, the rake never hangs. Why is that? Because Odor Lockers is lighter weight than clay litters and does not get as sticky when wet. I would highly recommed Odor Lockers to anyone using a Littermaid box!
It IS all that September 23, 2008 The cats *REALLY* seem to prefer this litter. Somewhere in Odor Lockers' promotional material they say something like "warning: cats may become addicted," or something like that. Sounds like typical advertising hyperbole, but my experience leads me to believe it's true.br /br /We have 8 cats, all full-time indoor. The most recent previous litter we were using was World's Best corn-based litter--which was pretty darn good, in my opinion. But I started to feel guilty about having everybody poop and pee on a food product (hey! you could make gasohol from it instead!) So anyway, we gave Odor Lockers a try. br /br /With this many cats, we have them separated into different more-or-less compatible groups that get along more-or-less well at different times of day depending on whether or not a human is around to keep an eye on them. There are a couple of comfort stations in the different cat territories where two separate litter boxes are right next to each other. At both of these locations I put one litter box with Odor Lockers Unscented and one with Worlds Best (what we had been using before.) The results were striking--every group of cats that had access to both kinds of litter at the same time showed an immediate very strong preference for doing their business on the Odor Lockers. I assume that means they enjoy using it. I continued this experiment for quite a while and varied every other variable I could think of, but nothing changed the result: they use the Odor Lockers almost exclusively when they have a choice.br /br /Now for the bad stuff--why it's 4 stars instead of 5:br /* Odor Lockers has some kind of "antibacterial agent" but they wouldn't tell me what it is when I asked, just reassured me it was safe for the cats.br /* I've seen a little bit of batch-to-batch variation in how dusty it is. Usually it's one of the least dusty litters I've tried, but a couple of times I've had shipments that were a bit dustier.br /* It doesn't really clump as well as I'd like. A lot of times little dark wet pieces fall of the clumps as I'm stirring and scooping, leaving me the tedious task of spooning them out.br /* Overall, as the two-legger that has to scoop it, I like the corn-based World's Best a little bit better. But I'm afraid if I switched back I might have a riot on my hands because the cats like this kind so much better.br /br /But hey, we want our cats to enjoy life, right?
VERY dusty, chemical smell, gets slimy when wet September 15, 2008 I tried this litter based on reviews here but I was very disappointed. It is extremely dusty, it has a funny chemical smell, and it doesn't clump well, just gets slimy and sticks to everything. I think it's one of the worst clumping litters I have tried.
Economical Litter July 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love to try new things and one of those is litter. I have tried every litter I come across no matter the price. And I have to say that I continue to fine nothing better than Odor Lockers. I would like to point out a couple of things about Odor Lockers. Even though there are many more than just a couple of outstanding things about this litter. br /One thing I would like to point out is that ALL cats love Odor Lockers. Whether your cat is declawed, a kitten being potty trained or just doesn't always like to use the litter box. It is soft and so pleasant for them to use that it even states on the O.L. bag that you do not need to gradually adjust your cat to this litter. You will never see another litter these days that states this! And it is absolutely true! Even my problem cats who need the litter attractant do not need it with Odor Lockers because they just enjoy using it so much. br /Odor Lockers is also a very fair price even with the shipping included when you compare it to other top quality litters. After shipping at about $10.00 a bag it costs the same as other top quality litters you can buy in your local pet stores. Some of these include: World's Best, Healthy Pet, Litter Pearls, Better Way and Feline Fresh pine. Even when you compare the frequency amount you need to replenish the litter in the box it ends up being not much more costly than the everyday grocery store clay litters. When Odor Lockers was available in Fred Meyer's it was $11.00 a bag. So you are getting just as good of a price if not better having it shipped to your doorstep.br /If you notice that the clay litters in the grocery store costs about $5-6.00 for a 14# jug however you are getting more weight than volume for your money. This seemingly inexpensive grocery store litter is heavy and there is not as much of it so it doesn't last as long as Odor Lockers. So don't be fooled into thinking you are getting more for your money. Do your own research and experiments on this. Just like how a 10# bag of Tidy Cats clay litter is $11.00. In actuality you are spending a lot more for this dusty, heavy, NON-biodegradable litter than you are on Odor Lockers. br /It amazes me at how Odor Lockers can offer such excellent litter at such an affordable, fair and economical price!br /
