How can we prevent our one-year-old recently acquired pooch from swallowing the "home cat"? He wishes to make her into a meal, and has remained of this persuasion for 2 months. We wish to be able to have them in the same room without cat pain ensuing. Help!

Maybe you need to train them together. What we started doing with our dog and cat before was to let them eat together, I don't mean very near each other just at the same time in one room, remember to tightly fasten the dog's leash, just in case. Then you can play with them with a ball or something just reinforce the positive sides of each other so that they can learn to appreciate one another.
