Default Going away 4 days. need advice

Hello All
I have a cat named Bob who goes in and out at his leisure. He does not use a litter box at all. I've been away up to 2.5 days before and I've left him outside with food for that time (although I suspect that the squirrels may be eating his food as well). I am torn on whether I should lock him in the house with a litter box (he's never used one) or to keep him outside for the 4 days. Any advice would be appreciated.
Kevin

Hi, welcome to you and Bob ! Before you make decision, why don't you start to train him to completely stay at home for one day with a litter box.. and see how it goes ?

Hi Kevin and Bob I have to agree with Irene, have a trial run. If I were you I would rather have him inside where I knew he was safe while I was away.

But 4 days is a long time on his own, inside or out, so you have to make sure that he does not have a tiny tray that he will fill up in a day or two - cats hate dirty litter trays, so maybe have a couple.

And his food and water would get stale in that time, so have you got anyone who could pop in to give him fresh food and empty his tray if you keep him in?

Hi Kevin, I agree with Heidi too... make sure that you have sufficient supply (litter sand, food and water). If you don't have anyone who can help, just make sure that his food bowl, water bowl and litter box are all HUGE enough to contain 4 days supply ! Some members here even bought an automatic feeder that will provide scheduled food, also an electric litter box.
