Default 5 week or so old kitten potty question!

hi all!

I found a box of kittens the other day on the side of the road. I gave 3 of them away to nice families and kept one to myself --cullen--. he is adorable.
He is having a problem going to the bathroom. He isnt litter trained yet, but his belly is distended and im getting worried. He is drinking mothers milk that i got and wet canned cat food. Please help!

Hi ! Welcome to you and Cullen ! It's great that you've found each other. It sounds like you are a new cat lover... hehe ! Nothing to worry about, just take him to the vet (right away, coz it would be serious with the distended belly) to check his worm/flea/eyes/earmites/and so on and so forth, and after all is fine, the vet will give him a vaccination shot. We all do that to our kittens (regular work). As for the litter train... yes, work on it, You can stimulate his belly by giving it a nice rub, bottle feed him kitten milk (KMR) and more water (how old is he ? Yes, the vet can tell you that too). As for the wet food, if he is too young, please ONLY feed him KITTEN wet food (more digestible for them) or you can start with Gerber's chicken paste. Of course, I used to give my kitties good bacteria to stimulate their digestion, it is powdered thing (LACTIC ACID BACTERIA), mixed in their food.

Please keep us updated after your visit to vet office ! Please also post some pictures so we all can see how adorable Cullen is ! (I'm sure he is !)

Sorry I didn't know that you've stated Cullen's age... now I know he's 5 weeks old. When my first kitten Princess found me, she's about 6-7 weeks old, and yes, I also gave her kitten wet food, but I noticed, she also experienced some sort of digestion probems (constipation and even diarrhea) due to new surrounding and people (espeically strangers who happened to be workers and guests at hubby's restaurant). So, hope Cullen will be fine soon !

How nice of you to take them in and provide them with good homes. Good luck!
