Question Cat Wants to go outside.

I adopted a beautiful 1yr old ragdoll x siamese flamepoint about 1-2mths ago. Hes just settled in but Latley hes been wondering the house meowing night and day, often at the front and back door. sometimes it follows with him peeing near the door, leading me to believe he was trained to go outside. i am scared to let him out as i dont want him to run away. I live on a farm so he will be fine if i let him out during the day when he needs to.

Hello and welcome!

Is your cat neutered? If he's not, that's the problem. Get him fixed and he should be fine with an inside life after that.

There are probably other cats around, and that may be upsetting him. If he is already neutered, I'd recommend installing some feliway plug in diffusers to help with his territorial feelings.

Be sure to give him lots of attention and play time for exercise every day. Does he have a cat tree?

I'm wondering if he is peeing by the door out of spite because you won't let him out. You should buy a cat litter called "Cat Attract" which usually helps cats use their litter box. You may want to think of taking him for walks on a leash and harness. I purchased a really easy-to-use harness called "Kitty Holster" online from Krazy K Farm. Cats CAN INDEED be trained to walk on a leash. One of my cats is really good at it and the other will walk a little, then plant his feet firmly in the ground for a minute, then walk, then repeat the process while I gently tug on the leash when he is not walking. Never yell at them, it just takes patience.
