Routine neutering still remains the gold standard for sterilizing male cats. Vasectomy is an option but not one that most consider because it is a technically more demanding surgery and can leave the cat with some of his "male" characteristics such as spraying and strong smelling urine. A birth-control vaccine for cats has been talked about for many years and a vaccine is being studied although it is not even close to being tested or used in the field. More...
