Default My 3-year-old cat is the most loving, affectionate cat I've ever had...at MY house. W

Cats are creatures of habit and often being in a new environment can upset them. Each time he goes to New England, especially with being around other cats, it's like us being in the middle of a foreign country. So he has to adjust to a new territory and also establish his place with the other cats. This can all be a little traumatic and probably doesn't make him feel like being very social with his human friends. You could try a couple things to make the transition easier for him. Rather than doing a cold turkey introduction to the summer house and feline housemates, a more gradual acclimation may help and give him at least a smaller area he feels safer in. Let him come to terms with his summer surroundings on his own terms; if you push things to quickly, this will increase his stress and have him associate the stress more directly with you. Good luck and try not to take his asocial attitude personally; he's just trying to deal!
