Default My cat was spayed last month. I don't want to take her back to the vet who spayed her

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your other cat during surgery. I would not recommend that you remove your current cat's stitches yourself for several reasons. First, we usually use special scissors to remove the sutures and in some cases it can be difficult to take them out. Second, before removing the sutures it is important to assess the incision and make sure it is ok to remove the sutures. You cannot leave the sutures in or they can start to become a source of infection or irritate your cat. If you do not want your current vet to remove them, I would start to look for another veterinarian and have them do it for you.
