Default Post Weaning Question

Hi All,

We had our first, and last, litter back in May. We decided to keep one as a companion for the mother. Everything went well up until a couple of weeks ago when mom decided she no longer wanted to have anything to do with the new addition to the family. Now mom hisses anytime her kitten comes within a few feet of her. She has taken to sleeping in out of the way places around the house as well. She's not aggressive toward any family members, just the kitten. I understand that it's normal, but my question is how long does this behavior normally last? Thanks in advance for your help.

When my cat had kittens I kept one also as I thought it would be nice for her.

Well as soon as he was weaned she wanted nothing more to do with him. She just ignores him most of the time and sometimes tries to pick a fight (not often).
They live together and get along ok but they will never be friends. I still feed them together in the same place so she has learned to tolerate him.
I just think some cats are not maternal (like people!).

Dont really have any advice sorry but by feeding them together maybe they will learn to tolerate each other.

Good luck
