Default New adopted 7 YO cat- acts like he's spraying, but nothing's coming out.

Is it possible that he is just "going through the motions" of spraying? Can you actually see and smell urine when a cat sprays? He is definitely trying to spray, he backs up to the wall, his tail straightens and twitches.

I feel the wall, and smell, but nothing! How much urine actually comes out when they spray? Please give me some advice.

He is 7 YO and neutered. A real sweet heart!

Hi Chloe, welcome!

I'm Maya, the Mom of 6 spoilt furkids you can see in my gallery
What's your kit's name?

He definitevely can "do" it & nothing's coming out. I saw my 2 year old Merlin doing it from time to time. Believe me, you will smell it imm if he's spraying.

Hope to see his pics soon,

Both male and female cats can do this. While you can't actually see anything, they are in fact scenting the spot / area. Sometimes you will smell it after a while, and sometimes not. I am not aware of anything that will stop them from doing it. Hope that helps.
