Unhappy Will this ever stop?

Hi, I am new here and have a little dilemma. I have two cats, a 10 year old female and a 2 1/2 year old male cat. About a month and 1/2 ago I adopted my neighbors cat, actually she adopted us. They could no longer care for her and let her roam outside since the Spring and said we could have her. She is a 1 year 1 month old tortie. We took her to the vet and had her all checked out and got her shots and brought her inside. Everyone of the cats are spayed, neutered.

We kept her in a bedroom and exchanged scents, let them see each other through baby gates, let each cat roam the house while the other was in another room, fed them by the gates, etc. We have had her in the house for about a month and 1/2 and a few time we put them together, she chases my male cat. He is so scared of her and hides, so we have kept them separated. Is keeping them separated making this worse? When she gets too close to him by the gates he will hiss, howl and go hide under the bed. She is such a sweet cat but seems to always want to chase after him.

I am not sure what I should do or if they will ever get along. I do not want either one of them to get hurt. Please help, I really need some advise. I was thinking about trying the feliway but not sure if that will help calm them down.

Hi & welcome!

I'm Maya, the Mom of 6 spoilt furkids you can see in my gallery
What's your name and your kits'?

If you almost 2 months have this tortie & still didn't get along with your cat, I think they will hate each one to the other forever. Maybe they can bear to be together in the near future but never be a real friends.
I have an example here at home.
Don't worry, it will be better. Only be patient, it will take more time than
the normal.

Good luck,

Hi Maya,
Nice to meet you. My name is Lottie and my furbabies are
Peanut (10 year old female)
Boo Boos (2 1/2 year old male) and
Patchy (1 year 2 month old female)

Whenever she see my male she wants to chase him. If he hisses at her, she does this snorting thing and her tail will puff up. She is pretty much ok with with the older female. Should I let them get together more (for a few minutes a day) or still keep them separated? Do you think the feliway will help them relax more? I think she thinks that the house is hers and hers only. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Lottie

Hi Lottie!

I don't have more suggestions, sorry. And maybe you can try with the feliway, if it works it will be great. But I insist you need to be more patient Let them get together gradually & be ready with a towel to separate them, just in case...

Good luck,

I tried the Feliway plug in to help with two of my cats and it didn't seem to work there is a herbal remedy called Over dominant it is to be given to the cat that is over dominant to help calm them down, it is specifically for animals and I got mine from the health shop, unfortunately Saffy can smell it in her food or water so wont have anything to do with it, or you could try Bach's Rescue Remedy it's available in cream form and you could try rubbing it in her ears, in fact all the cats ears to help calm them down! Also avaiable fron the health shop!

Great, I think this will help Lottie. Unfortunately, there is no Feliway nor Bach's Rescue Remedy here, so I don't know this product.

Where are you located? Maybe there is something similar, ask in your local health shop.

Thanks God I don't need it now but I know for sure here don't exist products of this type or similar. I'm in Israel.

You could always get Bach's off the internet, it can also be used for humans as well as animals.
