Exclamation !!! Help - mother on board !!!

Good evening and greetings from Collingwood Ontario Canada!

Hopefully you can direct me to the proper resource or answer having
read the following:

Four weeks ago, my wife and I acquired from a very well respected
breeder, two Siamese: a thirteen week old purebred male, as well as
his three and a half year old mother who is spayed (by the breeder).
The kitten, Macey, has integrated wonderfully into the household and
with us as well.

The mother, Pepperette, is a bit of a concern however. After four weeks she is still somewhat reticent to bond with us. Both cats play well together, eat well, and play with us when "Da Bird", balls of paper and other toys are
present. Pepper, the mother, will let us pet her as we talk soothingly to
her while she is resting. However, for the most part, she slides out of
our reach when we are nearby otherwise.

We are very very patient but the concern is that the lengthy period of
gaining trust, which is slowly happening in a positive manner, raises
concerns about our ability to cut her nails, provide dental cleaning
and even brushing in a timely fashion.

Her nails are now quite sharp.

We have had several Siamese over the years and are quite familiar with
them but this situation is quite unique.

Can someone give us a hint or two as to how to manage this situation
and give us the ability to provide basic care to her?

Thank you so much!

I think you just have to be paitient, she will accept you soon, but I don't think you push this time as it could upset her, and delay things. As for her claws, if you can get her into a cat carrier you could take her to the vets to have them clipped, also try some rescue remedy or feliway which should help her de-stress. Hope this helps, it will just take time.

Hi Pep, welcome!

As my friends say before me, pls give her more time to get used to you, maybe she's a shy girl...

Thank you!
We were thinking along the same lines ourselves.
We'll take a look at the de-stresser too!
Have a super weekend!

Okey Dokey!
We'll calm down a bit - thank you for the reassurance.

Have a great day!
