Default Wagging Tail and Purring.

When I stroke my older cat she starts purring but also wagging her tail, now I always thought that tail wagging ment displeasure. I am getting really mixed signals from this, anyone have any ideas of what she means by this?

Kitty's use their whole body to communicate, and the tail is a big part of that. A lashing tail, now, can indicate displeasure, or just a clue that she is about to pounce in fun.

But tail movement can say other things too. A leisurely wave can indicate contentedness, happiness. A rattling tail can show annoyance, or even just acknowledgment.

My Mazy cat's tail never stops moving. sometimes I just sit there and say her name every few minutes, just to see her rattle her tail...hehe

When she's playing Chase The Kibble, her tail has a hilarious movement, as she waits for the next kibble to be tossed. I can't describe it but I collapse in laughter over it all the time.

I do have a video of it, but it's not very good.

I'll get the link for you.

this is not a very good video, but if you can stand the seasick movement of the camera you can get a glimpse of her funny tail movement

I realized that their tail movements indicate not only anger or displeasure but happiness also
