Default Cat seeing dead people?

One of my cats for quite a long time will meow at the wall or ceiling. She'll do this at no particular time of the day or night. Recently she started really meowing and going from room to room like she's anxious or something. She won't let us pick her up but she'll come and sit by us so we can comfort her. Her eyes get real big. She'll do this for a couple of minutes and then stop but it's been happening more and more frequently. I've been observing her and she doesn't appear to be in any pain. She's eating fine and playing and doing all the normal activities cats do. ANyone ever experience this and have any suggestions. I don't know what I'd tell the vet if I took her in. They would probably think "I" was crazy.

Thanks.

Hi Lioness & welcome to the forum.
I have two cats and every night they scootle about the house wild eyed chasing imaginary things. They also often sit for ages staring at nothing on the wall or the ceiling. It's completely normal, they've always done it. I just call it their 'mad hour' and they always make me laugh when they're doing it.
What are your cats names & do you have any pictures to share?

Hi Lioness, welcome. I'm Cheryl.

My oldest, Cat, (13) has always done this.

He sits on the floor in our living room, we have a glass door leading to the hall.

He just looks through the door to the bottom of the stairs.

It's as if he's looking at someone standing there.

None of my other cats, past and present, have done this. Only Cat. xxxxx

Yup, I had a cat who did that too. Well, he belonged to my mom and I really didn't like him much, as he would be sitting on the kitchen table in the middle of the night staring at moving invisible things (it was creepy because his eyes and head would track and follow as though there really were things flying around in front of him!) and if I wanted a snack he would chase me up and down the house! He's a young guy, maybe 5 years old now but he did it all his life. Personally I think he had problems in the head, but you never know!

You know My Kilo does something similar, another thing that I find confusing is he loves everyone and I mean everyone, Adults Children Seniors other cats dogs, I brought him to the park one day and he drug me around it for 4 hours meeting everyone, however our neighbor who is an elderly women her husband passed away last Christmas and he's scared to death of her wont go near her, it's the strangest thing..we've made comments that it must be her husbands ghost that is scaring off Kilo but who knows. (HE even loves that VET!? but not her)

Yes. I believe cats can see Ghosts.

If you watch enough Ghost shows on TV you know one thing they look for is the presence of infrared waves lengths associated with ghosts. They can use infrared imaging and thermal imaging cameras to pick up a ghostly outline.

Cats can see well into the infrared wavelength of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. This is how they see so well at night with feline hunter night vision.

I believe it is entirely possible cats can see things we cannot see.

My cat Saffy does the same thing, she also tries to turn her head around on the same line as the girl in the Exorsist, but she doesn't quite make it. LOL I do believe that cats and other animals can see ghosts and Spirit.

I've mentioned this in another thread but when I first got Ripley I lived in a building which dated back to 1563. The flat I lived in was reputedly haunted by the ghost of a little girl. I swear Ripley used to see something that I couldn't & run off after it. We have since moved and I've never seen her behave like that in our new home, obviously no ghosts here!

Felines are hyper sensitive to spirits. All my cats that I have had have on occasion woken up out of a dead sleep to looking at something that you know they can see and if the spirit moves they follow with their eyes and will get down from wherever and follow it.
