Need Help, New Kitten !

Hello,

I just recently bought a cat yesterday, shes 4 months old.
When i saw her at the shelter she was very calm, didn't mind being held and was active and not shy.

When i brought her to the house she was VERY VERY scared, she ran straight under my bed. Later in the day i put my hand under the bed she came up to my hand and wanted to be pet and purred, but she still hasnt come out from under the bed. So ive been spending time with her and she has come out and come on the bed to me and purrs and loves to be pet and does that thing where she pushes her paws into me.

The only thing is when i brought her out to to show her the litter and just placed her down on the hallway she paused, and ran really quickly back under the bed, i don't understand why she's so scared of the house but can come out of the bed in the room.

She's also afraid of any noises.

Also would it be a factor that she had a sister and the fact that she got separated from her.

I understand that shes new the home and stuff, but it just so frustrating and breaks my heart to see her like that, hiding under the bed, wont come out, doesn't wonder the house. :(

I have some photos of her under the bed, but i cannot post them...

Hi--I think your cat is just petrified of the unknown. Since she's gotten a little comfortable under the bed and on the bed, why don't you put the litter box right next to the bed (for now) until she gets used to it. Yoou might want to go to the pet store and buy a litter called Cat Attract which somehow makes the cats go to the litter box. I also heard of people using something called Bach's Rescue Remedy to calm down a scared cat, but I don't know anything about it or how to use it. I also heard of something you plug in similar to an air freshener but it's a fragrance of feremones which is supposed to soothe a cat, but takes a couple of weeks to take effect. You may want to go to the pet store like Petco or Petsmart and ask one of the employees, some are really knowledgeable about cats.
For now I would keep your kitties food and litter box in the bedroom where she feels safe. When she's ready, she will venture out and check out her surroundings. You say that she purrs when you pet her, so that is a good sign. Let us know how she is doing.

I think you should follow Auntkitty's advice & put her food and litter tray in the bedroom until she settles in. It will just take your new kitty time to adjust to her new surroundings. It's good that she's letting you pet her, just give her lots of reassurance and love and she will settle in. I bet it's not long before she's exploring and up to all sorts of mischief!
Have you decided on a name for her yet?

Ok thanks.

Ive gotten past all that now. She doesnt hide anymore BUT...

Now the only thing now is shes really afraid of my mom, she hides from her, she only really trusts me, if my mom scares her off and i call her from under the bed she will come to me but not my mom, shes in my room 24/7. Me and my mom try, but shes just too afraid, i mean its hard to wait around for her and when shes "ready" she will be ok, but i mean come on, she wont get out of my room without my mom going somewhere or if i leave, is there anything i can do so she knows my mom is apart of the family...

Do you live with your Mom? If you do your kitty will accept her as part of the family soon enough. If not it will take a bit more time. I have a cat who is 5 and she still runs away and hides when we have visitors to the house, regardless of whether they are relatives or not!
I wouldn't worry too much, you've not had your cat long, it will take a bit of time until she's fully settled in. It sounds as if she loves you very much already! :)

Yes, my mom lives here. I just find it a bit sad because my mom loves cats, and she scurries away from her, shes getting a bit better just runs sometmies if she hears her.
