Cool Radical personality change

One of my cats has become radically more friendly after years of being afraid of us and unwilling to interact. Here are the facts:

Three years ago we inherited two Siamese from a family friend who passed away. We had two other cats at the time. The two greys had radically different adjustments. The youngest withdrew and wanted nothing to do with us. The elder cat was a friendly lap cat. This remained so for about three years.

Recently the elder Siamese passed away and now the younger one has begun interacting with us regularly. He talks at us, demands attention, watches TV with us, etc…

Obviously this is not a complaint about the young fellow joining the family, but what happened here?

Hi Chuck, welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about the loss of your elder cat, but as you say - this change in personality of the younger cat a a positive outcome.

It sounds as though there may have been a bit of a hierarchy situation, perhaps the elder cat was the dominant personality and the one you have left always felt inhibited before and was unable to exert his own personality and join in.

It's great though that he has finally become part of the family and you can give him all the love and attention you always wanted to
