my cat love to eat lawn grass; however he will performed "number 2" in the carpet. I noticed the feces seems soft not watery and with little leaves on it. I am sorry its morbid but I called my vet and he mentioned that my cat had a behavioral problem. Need advice. Thanks.

It is perfectly normal, healthy and common for cats to eat some grass. Indoor cats crave it too which is why they try to nibble on pot plants (you can buy cat grass in little pots at the garden stores for them). Your vet is not giving you the right answers.It helps their digestion but sometimes they eat it if they need to get something bad out of their stomach, like a fur ball. When cats lick themselves they can get balls of fur caught in their stomach and they must "get them up" so they eat the grass to make themselves vomit. What you are seeing is probably not faeces, but actually vomited furballs that are "sausage shaped" and look similar to number 2's. My cats do this at least once a week. It's normal.To help your cat, brush her fur every day so that she is not licking and swallowing so much it. But if you are sure it is faeces that is very strange that the grass would keep it's appearance after going through all the guts to No.2. If so, get a second vet's opinion because she might really be sick.

Absolutely agreee. Housecats, especially, lack a certain amount of fiber in thier diets. My cat will run outside whenever she can, eat a bit of grass, then she will vomit, of course, on the carpet, never on the linoleum. Perfectly normal. It can look like feces, but it's really a way of removing hair balls. The best thing to do is brush regularly. I also feed my cats Nutro food, which helps control shedding, thus reducing less ingestion of hair while grooming.
