A fine feline story that almost purrs when read aloud. Alexandra (a.k.a. Ali Cat) dons her cat ears and takes us proudly into the world of her favorite cat, Bo. Ali creeps, curls up and pounces like Bo, but try as she may, she cannot drink form a bowl or jump like Bo! This story has a child-friendly tone and is full of movement and rhythm that begs to be acted out with even the youngest child. Suhr's soft illustrations capture the simple essence of this enchanting tale. After reading the story, pop in the music CD that accompanies the book. You will hear young children sing the delightful song, "Like a Cat", which inspired this book. But, don't forget your cat ears! Customer Review: High quality gift book that is easy to read and has bonuses
An enthusiastic teacher, dancer and dedicated mom like Diane Youngblood Donlon knows what parents and children love in a storybook ??? a song to sing, a story to read and dramatize, and a musical CD for dancing and singing. Diane delivers all of this in her second storybook, Creep, Sleep, Pounce and Peek Like a Cat. The story is about a cat named Bo and his relationship to a young girl named Ali. Or maybe the story is about Ali???s love for Bo. Either way, they are friends who share snuggling, sleeping in the bathroom, hiding under the bed, creeping through the cat door, and jumping off the kitchen chair. Ali likes to wear her headband with cat ears. Young readers can make their own cat ears because this thoughtful author has included a cat-ears design on the inside back page. If you would like to teach your children to respect animals or you just want to share heart warmth for your pet cat, this book should be at the top of your list for several more reasons than those I have already mentioned. The illustrations by James Suhr are beautiful. The author put thought and quality into the book in several ways: The book is lap size. The hard cover and book sleeve make this a high-quality gift book. All illustrations are large, in good perspective, and with clean lines. The text is large and easy for children to read. The book is appropriate for young children and older readers- from early childhood through third grade
