Yes it is definitely a British shorthair and because of his colouring he is called a British blue. It is not a Russian blue totally wrong body shape would be much more slender although I can see why people would make the mistake as they are similar in colour but the British blue has that lovely stocky build it is a very popular breed of cat in England look up any cat sites and you can see the difference for yourself.
