Default Leaving my cats while on vacation

My two cats are male and female and nine years old. They have been with me since they were two weeks old. I have never left them over night before. I am going on vacation for a week in July. They will have access to outside and inside. Will they be so upset that I am not here that they will run away, or will they stay at their home. Is it the owner or the place, I guess Im asking. Thanks, Marilyn591

I think your cats will be fine if you leave them while you are gone. I always leave my cats when I go on vacation, and they have never ran away. I would make sure they have enough food and water while you are gone, and if you are going to be gone longer than a few days. I would have a friend come by and give them food and water, clean the litter box, and to check in on them every now and then.

We leave our cat for a few days a few times a year. I have my parents come in and check on her. Only difference for us is shes strictly indoors. I would think as long as they can get in and out and have food and water they will be just fine. Also I would follow GLKs suggestion and have someone stop to check up on them and pay attention to them and make sure they have food and water. Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.

I highly doubt the cat will run away. I think as long as someone comes each day to feed them, stroke them a little they will be fine. But the odds are highly agaisnt your cat going for a runner.

Definitely get the litterbox cleaned, our friends left for a week and the cats decided that the pile of laundry was more sanitary to use than the litterbox.. yuck!

It's fine to leave them for a while but maybe have someone just check on them at a certain time of the day? I used to have my next door neighbour come in twice a day. Once to clean, once to feed. It's a pretty poor system as nothing can match the love of an owner.

I've left my cats plenty of times when I was on vacation. Just as long as they have plenty of food and water, they should be fine.

Meow All,
I would have a neighbor check on them or someone you and your precious cats trust. I have had to go out of town for as long as 10 days and left my 2 girls home alone with my son dropping by to check on them. They do pretty good, and when I get home I spend the next few days alone with them reasuring them mom is home and all is ok. Also I always bring them something special home.

I would personally make sure to leave them indoors only, as I would have a fear of them running away. But make sure people check on them every day.
