Well I love animals (especially cats) but I have a friend who HATES them, she hates them so much she has developed a psychosomatic allergy to them. She loves dogs though and I've found the reason to be because cats can be more independent where as a dog really needs you. Dogs need to be walked, they can require more attention and I think that's what she needs. One of my family members doesn't tend to like animals in general and in her case it's fear based. There are lots of reasons why people don't like cats. Personally I love them, they're so full of curiosity and spunk but I love dogs and other animals too. I think it just depends on the person and their own personal likes, dislikes and even fears. For those litterbox people.. yeah you can walk a dog and have it go outside your house where as a cat you've gotta deal with litterbox duty but I think it's worth it. Plus I've found I don't have to bathe my cats as much as dogs or ferrets. With a lot of people hate of anything (cats included) is based in fear and ignorance. Cats are cats and they aren't evil, they can be full of mischief but that's one of the things that can also be lovable about them. There's can be a lot of anti-cat hysteria in superstition too. Such as cats can "steal" your breath while you sleep or a black cat will cause you bad luck, etc. I've only ever gotten a lot of love and good luck with cats, I have met some grumpy ones before but cats, like people, all have their own personalities and moods. For those who hate them... well you can choose to stay away from them, you don't have to threaten or speak ill of them. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
