Default How do I keep my cat from playing with her food?

She likes to pull dry food out of her bowl and knock it around the kitchen. She pulls one at a time out but does it a lot so there's always dry food everywhere. How can I get her to stop? Not all cats do it because I have two and only one does it. The only time the other goes near her food is when she's hungry!

Stop feeding her. Mine do it to.

Playing with their food is hard-wired into cats - they all do it, and they probably always will. Aside from putting her food into a small room and closing her in, I don't know if there's a way to get her to stop her behavior.

Cats are predators, so she likes the idea of playing with her food.Try distracting her when you see her doing it. Give her a cat-toy instead so she'll associate playing with a toy rather than with her kibble.

Try providing more toys around your kitchen to see if she'll play with those instead. Otherwise, there's not a whole lot you can do.
