Default Adopted a pregnant cat

Hi, I was at the pound today and someone was about to surrender their heavily pregnant female cat. They said she was about a year and a half old, and three months pregnant. Obviously, she is not three months pregnant as cats are only pregnant just over 2 months.

Can someone tell me what to expect with this cat (I have a spayed female already, and don't know anything about cat pregnancy and rearing). How can I tell when she is due? She does have a rather large belly...

Hi,my cat Dylan gave birth to 4 kittens last year.It was amazing.I prepared a spare room for her.I put a large cardboard box in there, with a hole cut out of the side, and newspaper in there. The day she gave birth she was very restless, didn't know what to do with herself. She kept jumping up and down off my lap, wanting her belly tickled.I was in the room when they were born,i just kept peeping into the box to make sure she was ok.Just before she give birth to the last one,she looked up at me,she was panting like mad.So I gave her a drink of water from a little mouse bottle.Within 2 hours it was over and she had cleaned herself and the kittens, and was purring like mad feeding them.I hope you have a wonderful expeience as I did.Take care, bye,Che.xxxxx

Good for you that you rescued this momma. I know nothing about pregnant cats but I wanted to let you know that you did a great thing as most people wouldn't even think of taking on such a responsibilty. Let us know when the happy event occurs and download pix.

I remember when I was little, my cat having kittens. We couldn't really tell when she was due or anything. One night I heard her screaming from under my bed. She was having her kittens.

There was another time when we came home, with a different cat pregnant, and she had had them in the closet. She even cleaned up all the mess.

I don't think you have to worry about it too much. Great job with the rescue and all. I'm sure the cat appreciates it. Good Luck with the kittens.

That's good to know aquagirl900. Hope your new cat will deliver her babies safely.
