Question New wet food

I have always given my male cat Lucky Friskies wet food. Today I bought him Science Diet. He didn't really want to eat it but since he was hungry he wolfed it down. A little while later he threw it up. Should I mix the old wet food with the new food until he is used to the new or should I just keep him on the old. There was no real reason I switched other than he eats Science Diet dry.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Might as well keep Lucky on what he already likes.

He may have vomited because he ate too fast. Often a cat will wolf down a new food just because it's new, then never eat it again.

If he has done well on the Friskies, I see no reason to change it.

Hi, welcome to you and Lucky ! I have to agree with Acer. However, may I know why you want to switch brand ? Is Lucky choosy (I mean he has his own preference...) ? I have a very choosy and picky kitty too, I'll only buy what she likes, of course there are many choices out there you can try and see (but please buy only safe quality brands).

Hi & welcome!

Don't worry, he vomited because he ate too fast. And FYI, Science Diet is actually one of the best cat's food in the market.

He might have thrown it up either from eating it too fast, or the change in foods may have upset his stomach. I too, feed my cat's Friskies wet. They love it.

Changing cat food needs to be done gradually. Don't harm your cat by insisting that he eats what's in front of him. He needs some adjustment.

actually it is one of the worst....about the same as friskies. look at the ingrediants, not something any cat would eat.

I started giving my cat fancy feast, but wanted a more healthier option. I moved his weekly meals to Nutro Max and I give him fancy feast on weekends.

My cat only likes food with chunks and not pate like substances so I stuck to those textures.

Why ? You don't think fancy feast is healthy enough ? All my kitties love both Fancy feast's dry and wet. As for the dry (Everyday's a feast), they have 3 different flavor selections - but my kitties love Ocean Platter and Roasted Selection. I think you should read the ingredients and hopefully agree with them.
