Default Do we really need vitamin pills for cat?

For example a product Nucat? If we make our own little recipes do we really need them? I have a 4 years old female tabby cat and just started making my own little recipes. Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome to the forum ! Sometimes I also make some food out of recipes for my kitties, and it's fun ! However, feeding them with kitty food is a must for me (their main food). I also give them some vitamins (drops, paste...) additionally. I think it is okay to give your cat vitamins ...

If you feed your cat a high quality cat food that is nutritionally complete a cat in good health does not need vitamin supplements.

If you are feeding home made food, please please do you research and find out what your cat needs in the way of supplements to be healthy.

Cats have very specific nutritional needs and random human food will not meet their needs. For example, taurine is crucial for your cat's eye health. She cannot manufacture her own taurine in her body, it has to be added to her diet.

Without it her eyes will form ulcers and lesions, and she will lose her vision.

I know there are good homemade feline diets out there, but you have to make sure it's a good reliable diet, that in some way includes all a feline's specific nutrient needs, and they have to be done right, following instructions to the letter, to be sure she is getting all she needs.
