Default sick cat

I have had 1 of the cat beds in front of the fire for a few days to entice the kitties to snuggle up. Last night I noticed Dora was there and thought that was nice, Girlie Girl snuggled up to her at some stage. But this morning, and a couple of times during the night,I noticed she was still curled up there, and when the other 2 cats were tearing up and down the hall, she just lay there, so I freaked out, naturally, especially after Puss's passing last week. I noticed a tick under her neck, removed it, with no fuss from her, which is odd for her. So I got all the kids up and rushed her into the vet. The vet said she did not look too unwell, until he took her temp, which was 40.5, he was very surprised, then she got all trembley. So he thinks she must have some kind of bug, he took some blood to make sure it was not a snake bite also, thankfully not. She has been given a shot of antibiotics and hopefully she will be back to normal tomorrow.
I am so stressed over these cats. Dora has been to the vet 3 times in the last month!! Plus Puss passing, and Fluff being depressed.

With ticks, depending on the tick species, some bites can cause a cat (or any animal really) to go into shock. I'd be very concerned with her temp being so low, and keep an eye on the trembling. I am praying for you, that the medicines work and everything turns out okay!

You are very unlucky. I feel very sorry for you and Dora. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping everything will turn out okay.

Oh dear... I feel with you ...especially after Puss Puss' passing... It must be very stressful for you to look after the sick Dora now ...

At least the vet has given her the proper med (I'm glad to know it's not another snake bite !!), and let me pray for quick recovery for your poor girl.

It was not the ticks that were causing the fever, and her temp was actually high, not low as it is in celcius here, so that would be about 105 fahrenheit. The vet said it is probably some bug. Thankfully he said they will build immunity to the ticks, although I will continue to check them as they are getting them most days. The paralysis ticks are bad here at the moment for some reason, not sure why as it is the middle of winter.

That's very high dear, in Celcius !! Even human will suffer stroke with that high body temperature. I was about to say that -- just unsure if I should ... glad that you said it now ... better check every one of them --- better safe than sorry ... since it's so unpredictable how you have it in the midst of cold winter ..

Is there anything I can do for her to speed up her recovery?? The vet just said to let her rest and that she may be off her food for a couple of days. She is snuggled in front of the fire again. Should I be offering her extra fluid??

Sure -- when my kitties are sick, they will lose their appetites a bit - so my vet will encourage me to feed them extra fluid. I use water bottle and syringe to feed them, straight into their mouths. This is important to prevent dehydration, as well as to flush away the heat and all bad things inside her body.
