Default Suggestion Needed

Hello Everyone.

Exactly 2 months ago, i found behind my door a semi siamese cat, female, very friendly and one of a unique character i must say.

3 days after i took her to a vet for examination and he said she was healthy. 2 weeks ago i`ve taken her again for examination as i was a bit concerned about her snoring sometimes, slightly wet nose and sometimes i could hear her breathing. The vet again confirmed she was a healthy cat and he vacinated her.

2 days ago i had to re-call him as she was sleeping a lot and even though he told me the vacine might do so to her, it was for 3/4 days that she was only waking up for eating/dreaking and then back to sleep. He gave her a 2nd shot to calm the reaction and she is back to her old self.

Still i`m worried... she is 4/5 years ago and i cant understand why she was abandoned seeing her absolutely marvelous character and something is in my mind, maybe she was under some treatment? What if so? Few things i notice of her is that she drinks a bit more water then my other cat does, and she also pies more, can that be a problem? I might be over thinking as i lost my 12 year cat few months ago and maybe i`m over reacting? Can anyone please advice me?

I would go back to the vets again, yes I know it's expensive, but it sounds like she requires more investigation such as bllod tests just to make sure that there is nothing else going on with her, once they come back negative then you can relax, likewise if there is a problem then you can deal with it. Let me know how it goes with your vet!

I guess i should. I dont know why the vets do not do blood test immediately on cats that have been found, i mean you never know if the cat has been through any treatment, so how can they vaccinate without checking? I got so much used to her now, that if he should find something wrong i know i`ll find it very hard to adjust to. Hopefully nothing is seriously wrong. Buy the way her name is Phoebe i see you have 1 called like that too, and here she is

Yeah i have no other choice i guess cause otherwise i`ll never know I hope it will not hurt her and i hope that everything is ok, cause after loosing my 12 year old cat Sasha i really can`t stand another loose, even though she was an 'abandoned' cat i got really fond of her. This is her picture

She is a stunner for sure. I would mention to the vet about the excessive drinking. My kits drink a lot of water but they also run around and play a lot as well. She may not have been abandoned but maybe got out of her original owners house somehow. Just talk to the vet and go in with a load of questions that you have pre-written out. By the picture she does look healthy but go see your vet again.

Hello everyone again.

Phoebe seems to be doing quit well right now, although i`m still very very worried.

Blood test and Urine test where done last week and the vet said i caught her in time for an early stage of Kidney Disease. I never had a cat suffering Kidney Disease and i`m devastated... yes she was not mine to start with but i can help stop worrying.

Her creatinine is just at it`s high edge 159 (average 70.7-159.1) but the BUN and white blood cells are high. Urine had some protein so instead of just changing the food the vet gave also half a pill of Fortekor (novartis) ACE inhibitators which are what i`m worried about.

She stopped drinking and piing that much ever since i went to the vet, and i`m really afraid i`m putting drugs in her! She is an angel, she is eating the new food (touchwood) without giving me trouble and more heart aches. She is also putting down the pill i never had cats obbeying so much which is a blessing in her state.

I told the vet about her stopping drinking, he said it`s all for the better and that in a month time we`ll do her the blood test again to see where she stands. But am i going to harm her more with this pill? Her white blood cells where a bit high but he said it doesnt seem to be caused by an infection, but rather by stress...

Please help i`m really at my edge even though i try not to worry so much.

Hello everyone.

Phoebe seems to be doing quit well... a week ago she went to the vet for blood/urine test and the vet said that even though he cant be sure, but it seems i caught her just in time as she seems to be having kidney disease.

Her creatinine is at the very high end being 159 (average should be 70.7-159.1), her BUN and WBC are high. He is suspecting her BUN to be high due to kidney not working properly and as he found some protein in her urine he suggested not only to change the food, but also to put her on half a pill of ACE inhabitators (Fortekor from Novartis) daily until 1 month from now when he will do some more blood test to see how she`s doing.

Problem is that i`m really afraid of the pills. What if the problem is not the kidney or if the ACE will make her worst? He said white bloods where high most probably due to stress and not an infection. Think is, ever since i went to the vet Phoebe stopped drinking all that much of water and stopped piing a lot too. She was vacinated 2 weeks prior, so can that be the cause of the protein in the urine? I`m just scared i`m harming the cat instead of helping her.

I talked to him re-her not drinking a lot and he said that is for her best and that only the 2nd test will let us know what is going to happen.

Am i thinking too much? I do trust him a lot, i`m just scared and over thinking that i might be the cause of her becoming worst if the pills are not what she needs.

What am i to do?

Unfortunately until you have the second test, you can't know, and I know that it's difficult for you, but try to relax because she will pick up on your stress which will make her stressed also which won't be good for her, it sounds like that it has been caught early enough and so maybe with treatment she will be fine, I have never experienced this illness before so I really don't know, hopefully someone with experience will come on here and give you more hope and support!
