it didnt occur to me with jessie until i gave her a bit of her old food and she kept that down but the moment she ate the other stuff she would vomit. its not something you think of as you assume it should be safe for your pet to eat. sadly i think that because its not food for us, its not as inspected like ours is. sad, isnt it?

he sounds like hes on the road to recovery. lets all pray that he gets better completely and it was only food related and nothing big

Oh you guys, he's getting better!! He went to his bowl and ate a little (still not drinking though). He's up and around and starting to get ornery again! He has these "bad boy" things he does just to get my attention. hehe If I'm on the computer when he wants attention he bites the ethernet cable where it attaches to the laptop or he bites the corner of the laptop. hehe As soon as I tell him "noooo" or give him attention he stops. Well, he bit the cable tonight! YEA! Not enough to bite through he just nips at it. He's been purring and grooming and back and forth from my lap to the food or my bed. He's not just laying around or hiding like he was.

Keep the prayers coming, it's working!

He even brought me his fur mouse and went after it when I threw it. He wasn't quick like he usually is but at least he got it and batted it around a couple of times. I love this boy so much!

I know I haven't posted once in this thread, but Simba has been in my thoughts since it was posted... It's great to see you saying he's getting better, as I was hoping for such a good outcome.. Will continue to think of him

YAY! Still praying for our Simba. I know you'll let us know if the vet sees anything on the x rays.

It's great to hear he's getting better. But he sure needs some water. Have you tried moistening his usual food? Sometimes it helps.

Still praying here

No word on the results of the x rays. I am beginning to feel deeply worried.

I slept in because I was up all night with a kitty that wanted constant loving and attention. LOL He's doing so much better today. The vet won't be in for a couple more hours and she'll call me with the xray results.

I really think it was the food and I need to figure out how to report it so they can determine if there needs to be a recall.

He's eating and drinking a little at a time but often. And he's doing all the things he knows he's not suppose to do. LOL It's so funny and he seems to know that I won't get mad at him.

The vet called. She said it very well could be the food and that it might be contaminated or moldy but she doubts it's bad enough to cause kidney failure like the last recalled food.

She said his kidneys and liver look fine. He has some hair in his intestines but doesn't think there's a blockage. She said to continue with the hairball and antibiotic meds and new food since he's eating and drinking now. I'll call her in a couple of days or if he stops improving.

He hates the hairball goop and we end up getting more on us than in his mouth. Does anyone have any tricks on how to administer it better?

Whew, I think we're on the road to recovery!

I filed a claim with Purina. He said there haven't been other claims but I'm going to search online and see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

great to know its nothing serious!

you can smear it on his paw or, for at first with us wed stick the amount needed on our finger and smear it onto the roof of her mouth. you can try that jessie likes it enough now that she licks it from the stick, but we had to smear it in her mouth at first

Thanks Dally. He spits it out and since it's a ball of gook it doesn't stick to easily. I'll try the paw though.

I want to change his food from Fancy Feast to something better, maybe this one? Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul : Products : Which Formula : Cats : Senior Cat Because Petsmart is close to me and PetCo isn't.

Considering his recent problems should I do it slowly or wait until he's better?
