Default Minty's vet appointment

Ok so took Minty to the vet (14 yr old cat) and for some odd reason he had peed all in the carrier and was just sitting in it, even when the door was opened he just didnt budge, now most ppl would see that as an anxious thing as he hates the carrier but it is such an odd thing for him to do especially when he has always been picky about his cleanliness, so after getting him out, and getting him all cleaned the vet did a blood test and urine test, get blood test results back either tomorrow or thursday so hopefully get some answers

but the vet said it could be a hormonal thing, a hyperactive thyroid, or an age thing thats happening, hope results show something helpful

Poor Minty, peeing in the carrier, he must have been mortified. I guess it was lucky he had enough pee left in his bladder for the vet to get a clean sample? Did they do a urinalysis or is the pee being sent out for a culture? I'm glad they are checking thyroid too.

I'll be watching for an update.

results came in today, everything showed up fine

so all the vets at the centre and the vet nurses just think that it is his old age, but to keep an eye on him anyway

Glad to hear that it is not serious and that your kitty is fine.

Oh good--glad to hear Minty doesn't have any medical problems. Maybe he was just really scared? I understand what you mean about him usually being so picky about his cleanliness, but cats that are scared try to make themselves look invisible so they think if they stay really still that nobody will notice them. So maybe that's why he didn't come out of the carrier. Why did you take him to the vet in the first place--was it just for his check-up???

hey he was due for his vaccination but it was mainly because he has been losing a lot of hair lately, and because his got a lot of dandruff lately, also wanted to see if there was a medical reason that would explain why his peeing on the lounge carpet rather than in his litter tray
