Senior Cat aches

Squeakers is my 15 year old cat with diabetes and, of course, is getting a bit slower. He is under a vets care, so I know he is healthy for his age. He still jumps onto the couch and has a normal appetite. My question is, I would like to supplement his food (diabetic crunchy/canned) with something to help aches. But there are so many over the counter items, I'm not sure which would be the best for him. Do you have any recommendations?

Cosequin for cats is an effective safe supplement for moderate arthritis in cats. Of course check with your vet before starting anything.

Massaging can help him too. I can offer tips on that if you want.

Also a nice warm bed. I make self warming beds for cats using space blanket material lining on the inside of the beds. You don't have to be crafty, or know how to sew really, you can just get the reflective blanket material and put it under his bed.

this the the kind I am talking about.

I would also recommend you feed him an all wet diet, eliminating all dry. So much better for him that way.

Diet is certainly a component. It’s felt that a low carbohydrate diet is probably best for cats with diabetes.
