Has anyone ever heard of a "granuloma" on a cat's lower lip? I am caring for a poor little stray that found his way to my house. His lip is so puffed out and swollen. Vet said it a granuloma on his lip -- usually caused by some kind of allergy such as eating from plastic food bowls or from fleas, etc. Vet gave him two shots -- Convenia (antibiotic that lasts 2 weeks) and a steroid. It looks like it hurts for him to eat, but he's trying.
Is it actually on his lip or his chin? If on his lip it is an eosinophilic granuloma or more commonly known as a rodent ulcer. It is caused by an inbalance of the immune system and it is attacking a perceived threat. If you can get a bottle of Source Naturals Transfer Factor it will help balance his immune system. Give him a high quality grain free canned food as grains are a common allergen. If it seems to be painful you can get a bottle of Twinlabs propolis extract(no alcohol) and put a drop on the area twice a day, this will alleviate pain.
