Cats require a nutrient called Taurine. Dog food does not contain this. Prolonged feeding of dog food will eventually deplete his system and cause him to become ill. It is believed that the cats years ago acquired this nutrient through their hunting. Dog food is not poisonous to cats, but in time can make them ill if fed dog food exclusively!
