Default Unanswered: RVing cats

I have 6 indoor/outdoor cats. We are planning a trip to Alaska in a 19' class B motorhome/van. We live on a farm and have a way for the cats to enter an upstairs window into the house. We have people who could check on them during the summer. We plan to be gone for 3 months. BUT they do like to be with us all the time. We have taken them to Florida and when we arrive at destination, they are able to go outside for a couple of months and then we return home with them. What is everyones thoughts on taking them in such a small area and possibly only getting out occasionally on a leash or into a small pen. Would they be more comfortable at home, or being with us.
Any ideas would be helpful. They always seem to be quite content, but I know they like to be outside.

Hmm. This is a tough one. I personally think they'd be better going with you, because then they're with you (if that makes sense) rather than alone with all the space in the world and only being checked on every now and then by someone they probably don't associate with on a daily basis... And they'd probably enjoy the Alaskan outdoors if they got to come (this is coming from an Alaska resident ).

Welcome to the forum. And good luck on the drive up, it can be interesting at times!!

Got any pictures to post of your 6?

I think the cat's would be better off at home, but only if you can find someone maybe staying in the house for the time you are gone. I think the traveling is too much stress for them especially considering that you have outdore cats. You can't let them our during the trip because they don't know the surrounding. of course it's your decision, but I would rather look for someone living with them for some time.
