I don't think the issue is keeping "a" (as in any) cat in an apartment. I think the issue is keeping THIS cat in an apartment.

The OP is concerned because the cat has been living free in the woods, and wonders if it will be cruel to confine her (or him) after the free living.

That is why I asked so many questions. If this cat was a house cat she should have no trouble adjusting to inside living again.

Most cats, even if they've lived as strays for years, can adjust to inside living if it is done right. Not all. but most.

But first they need to find out if anyone is looking for her, or if she has a microchip.

Once she is sure she is not lost, bring her home, but be prepared for a long adjustment period.

I think that all cats feel themselves ok in every environment, both in apartments and on the open world.
