| | Need help in Ontario Canada for Baillee
We live in Ontario Canada in a rural region. Over the years 5 stray cats have come up our driveway looking for a home. Though we live in a small home we have taken them all in with loving arms. They have returned our love many times over and we are grateful for them all.
Over Christmas a young male cat came up our driveway in a terrible snow storm. We were able to live trap him and place him in an RV in which we house another stray who is deaf. We named him Baillee. He is very kind and sweet but would never come near us. He would wait till we left to eat and he got along very well with our deaf white stray named Snowflake.
We have had all our strays fixed and vaccinated. Today we took Baillee to the vet and we were shocked to discover that someone had placed an old dog collar on him! Because of his long fur we never noticed it. The vet called us and said that the collar had dug into Baillee's right shoulder and he would have to have his front right leg amputated. We are so sad over this. The vet thought he had been dropped off at our driveway over Christmas because we have a reputation for taking in strays. But the vet also said it was beyond cruel for someone to put that collar on him.
The vet will amputate his leg on Wed. We want to care for Baillee afterwards and will of course until he recovers. But we want to find a good home for him with people who know how to care for cats with 3 legs.
Does anyone know of people who specifically care for cats with 3 legs? Even though we live in Ontario Canada we can travel with Baillee and deliver him to a home where he will be properly cared for and live out a long happy kitty life.
Thank you kindly for any help you can offer.
